Next week we’re excited to be diving into Courage is Calling, Fortune Favours the Brave, Ryan Holidays latest book!
In a world in which fear runs rampant—when people would rather stand on the sidelines than speak out against injustice, go along with convention than bet on themselves, and turn a blind eye to the realities of modern life—we need courage more than ever.
We all know fear; Ryan Holiday takes us on a journey of how overcoming fear can help us reach our potential.
So what better way to celebrate courage than to take a look at what others have to say about Courage is Calling and how Ryan Holiday and his books are helping them on their journeys.
There’s a reason why 5 of Ryan’s books are in the top 20 on Amazon’s best sellers list
I consider myself fairly well-read, but there is no author that has done more for me than Ryan Holiday. I gift all of his books to family and friends. I also consider myself fairly immune to cliches and motivational speeches, which is why his practical advice and original, clear thinking is so inspirational. If this book is anything like the 2 bonus chapters I was fortunate enough to receive, it’ll be his best yet.
Don’t take my word for it though. On Amazon’s philosophy best sellers list, four of his books are in the top 10, five are in the top 20, and six are in the top 25.
There is absolutely no way you can’t learn something from him that will improve your life. Emily. Amazon US

I always feel as though I come away with something new and I can improve myself as a person with Ryan Holiday's books on Stoicism. If this would be your first one jump in and enjoy!. Miller. Amazon
"Courage is not simply one of the virtues . . "
"Courage is not simply one of the virtues, but the form of every virtue at the testing point." C.S. Lewis
Near the end of the book, Holiday includes this inspiring quote from C.S. Lewis, and for me it sums up the point of the entire book. The world right now is suffering from a lack of courage, a lack of following through on other virtues and values you hold at the testing point. This book about courage is a call to action in the public sphere, but also a call to action in the private sphere -- a call to develop courage in your own family, your own heart, your own career. Love this latest book by Ryan Holiday.
I was lucky at eighteen to join a job that tested my mettle, but as life in general gets softer few youngsters learn to face down their fears. He’s done a good job here mixing old wisdom and modern advice. Gary. Amazon UK
Ryan introduced me to a stoic lifestyle then gave me the instructions on how to learn to be a good stoic I own all of his books and this one is by far THE BEST BOOK. Amazon CA
A collection of some of the "greatest hits" of courage throughout history.
Mr. Holiday has compiled an excellent reference for anyone looking for examples of courageous action that can inspire our own daily experiences. Of special note is the afterword, detailing what I would consider the inspiration for this book. Mr. Holiday talks about his time at American Apparel and the decisions he could have made but didn't and has been haunted by ever since.
A great addition to the growing library of stoic philosophy for our modern times. Mike. Goodreads.
Ryan Holiday is the most influential philosopher in my life
The context of this review is Ryan Holiday is the most influential philosopher in my life. He is among the most generous and insightful content creators in the world. His daily writing and podcast on Stoicism are invaluable.
There are powerful stories and absolutely beautiful passages that will have me reflecting in and trying to incorporate in my life for months and years. Lloyd. Goodreads
The hardcopy of this book is small, compact and beautiful. The kind of book a bookworm collects, so the fact this is the first in a series of four is great news. Courage, Temperance, Justice and Wisdom. Beginning with Courage.
In a time and era where being courageous enough to swim against the current and not toe the line, especially when it usually means the possible loss of status, means and power – it’s not to be lightly dismissed. In a time where we have a term for people who fear to get involved when a crime is committed in front of them, the brave should be acknowledged and not pitied for the consequences of involvement. Cheryl. Goodreads
Courage is Calling is the first of four planned books on each of the Stoic virtues
– courage, wisdom, justice, and temperance. Ryan continues to deliver great insight on how to apply courage to everyday life. As society continues to evolve, the need for courage is more important than ever. Without courage, the other virtues don’t become actions. While it remains to be seen if this four book cycle will march Ryan’s excellent trilogy of Ego is the Enemy, The Obstacle is the Way, and Stillness is the Key, Courage is Calling is a powerful start. Ryan Holiday is wise beyond his years and a talented writer and media strategist. His books bring wrestle with two main topics: Stoicism and media. We have just done a complete, and very stoic, deep dive on his stoic work for the Moonshots Podcast (part 1, part 2, part 3, part 4). I highly recommend his books, but given they span various substantial topics, I recommend reading Ryan Holiday books in this order.
